Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Prodhan obtained his MBBS from Rangpur medical college under Rajshahi university in 1985. He also obtained his post-graduation (Master in Surgery, M.S.) in Ophthalmology in  2002 from under Dhaka University. He also obtained his post-graduate degree DO in 1995 from under Dhaka University. He completed his FCPS from University of Dhaka and the Bangladesh College of physicians and surgeons, Dhaka in 2004. He has done fellowship training in low vision from the Asian eye institute, Manila, Philippines. He completed observer-ship and skill development training in glaucoma from Disha eye hospital, Kolkata, India. He did training on microsurgery, SICS, and PHACO from Islamia eye hospital and the National institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka. 

Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Prodhan was the assistant professor and associate professor of the glaucoma department at the national institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka. he had worked at Rangpur medical college hospital, Sir Salimullah medical college and Mitford Hospital, Dhaka medical college hospital, National institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka, and Sarkari Karmachari Hospital, Dhaka.  He served as the eye specialist at Arar central hospital under the ministry of health in Saudi Arabia. Now he is the associate professor and senior consultant at Bangladesh eye hospital Mirpur Limited, Dhaka.
